Ready Yet?

Did you ever get frustrated when you want to explain something to someone who Really NEEDS to hear what nugget of truth you have to share with them–just to find out that they have no ability to comprehend what it is you are trying to say?

Or how about when you want to share a special moment or revelation with your wife, and you say, “Honey, come here, you gotta see this!” because while you were sitting on the john looking at the wallpaper border, you realize that the pattern is strangely prophetic in a spiritually historic kind of way, and she simply says “no I don’t” and totally dismisses you because she’s doing the dishes?

Nope, me neither.  But in light of such possible scenarios, I often wonder why it is so hard to get a group of people to collectively come to understanding, faith, motivation, or to take action on important issues… eternal issues, issues of the heart, things that really matter, the kind of things that come to mind as you are looking at the grave of a loved one.

Why the mass stupidity.  Mass ignorance.  Mass denial.  Mass head-in-sand-syndrome.  How can such STUPID things go “viral” and suddenly the whole world it tweeting about , watching or buying something that will be completely forgotten in 30 days?

How patient God must be with me–and with you–to work the Process of each one of our lives toward the end of making the eternal relationship as good as it can be.  How impatient we are with each other.  How critical and judgemental is the previous paragraph because I cannot see the relevance of the trivial, or take an over-prideful position on the truths that have been revealed to me that others do not see?

I see a nation bound by it’s freedom, an unthinking move of the masses toward the “new world order”, the wholesale buy-in to lies propagated by power-hungry people in politics.  Religions that use authority to use wrong teaching to gain power over right-seeking people, people wearing skulls and demons on their clothing because it’s “in style” as they seek occult practitioners for answers that no one else can give them….  Can I even begin to explain my observations or convictions in a way that will be coherant?  I think not.

So lets talk about the wallpaper:

This wallpaper is really strange, because when I sit on the john at night, with nothing but the kitchen light on, all I can see (most prominent) are three crosses.  In the light, there’s a nice beach scene, but the subtleties of the image bring to mind this scripture out of Luke 23:

39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!”

40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

I imagine the first (mocking) criminal on the left.  I see an unused life ring–salvation ignored.  I see a boat.  Not a sailboat, but a row-boat–something used for escape, under one’s own power.  I see one chair facing out.  No community, a solitude that comes from pride.

I imagine the second criminal on the right.  I see Life (palm tree leaves) above the center cross, and life (grass) at the foot of the cross on the right.  Life transferred.  I see two chairs facing each other–community and relationship.  I see a surf board–the hope of joy and fun–more life.

I see the center of the center cross.  The trunk is alive (the other two are dead sticks).  The cross bridges the gap across the expance to “paradise” island, and even up into the heavens.

Now granted, I may be reading a bit into this, but then again, I may just bee seeing it.

19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

So how do I get people to focus on what is important?   The choice:  Will you mock God, or will you recognize the truth about Jesus and take a stand for him, so He can say, “I assure you, you will be with me in paradise.”
